Damien Toner is Development & Innovation Executive at BIM, Irelands national seafood agency. His work involves creating improved linkages between academia and industry in particular around new technologies. He has worked extensively in aquaculture for both the private and public sector across a range of species. An elected member of the EAS board, he has chaired many webinars, workshops and conference sessions at national and international level.

Summary of the presentation
This EAS talk provides an overview on how to chair an oral session at an EAS event. Providing practical and helpful information on how best to manage a session from choosing from oral submissions to dealing effectively with presenters and audience alike. In particular the talk will be of benefit to students considering co-chairing or chairing a session for the first time and will enable you to be well prepared and confident. This will be an interactive presentation with opportunity to ask any questions you may have. Chairing a session at a workshop or conference can be a rewarding experience and this talk will hopefully encourage more EAS members to avail of the opportunity.
