Our next webinar 'The ASC - certification and cooperation' by Kathrin Steinberg will be on December, 3rd at 14.00h (GMT +1/Brussels time).
Organised by EAS and generously supported by AE2019 Gold Sponsor Biomar, Session Sponsor Sorgal, Industry Forum sponsor Rentenbank, as well as associate and media partners, AE2019 was held at the Estrel Hotel and Congress Center in Berlin, Germany.
AE2019 attracted a total participation of just over 2700 from an impressive 85 countries. Of the full conference delegates (more than 1400), 328 were students. The trade show presented products and services from 150 exhibitors. The abstract submission for AE2019 broke all EAS records, with 1039 abstracts received, resulting in 798 oral presentations (all sessions, including workshops and fora) and 443 poster presentations.
A new part of AE2019 was the use of Eposters – and 96 were presented in the sessions that were selected to pilot this presentation format. Also new in AE2019 was the Student Spotlight Award at the opening plenary session, as well as the AE2019 Innovation Forum and special sessions including “Women in Aquaculture.”

The BLUENET project aims to test actions that can prevent and reduce marine litter from fishing/aquaculture. The consortium (AZTI, Itsaskorda, Gaiker and NTT), is seeking information regarding the perception of aquaculture and the lifecycle of the components used in aquaculture production.
Vlaams Instituut voor de Zee (VLIZ) has engaged in the AQUA-LIT project funded by the European Union, aiming at providing the aquaculture sector with a toolbox of preventive measures for averting the discard of litter in the marine environment.
On a regular basis, the AQUAEXCEL2020 project invites proposals from European research groups for scientific research that utilises the facilities of any of the participating aquaculture research infrastructures. The AQUAEXCEL2020 project unites major aquaculture experimental facilities with capacity to undertake experimental trials on a selection of commercially important fish aquaculture species and system types.
These installations are made available to the research community for Transnational Access (TNA) with the support of the European Union’s Horizon 2020 Research and Innovation Programme.
Transnational Access involves a research group in one country collaborating with one or more AQUAEXCEL2020 Infrastructures that are located in a different country to the applicant, and which offer facilities and expertise not available in their own country.
Next EAStalk webinar with Maria Kowalczuk, Research Integrity Manager at Springer Nature will be on November 5th at 14.00h (GMT +1/Brussels time). The topic of this webinar is Predatory publications and predatory conferences.
